"I wish me and Zoe had the ability to make ourselves invisible at will," Athena said. The stone glowed, granting her wish.
"Ooh, good one. So, do I have to really concentrate to make it happen?" Zoe asked.
"It should be easier than that, like breathing voluntarily. Just think that you want it to happen, and it should happen."
Zoe closed her eyes and thought about wanting to become invisible.
"It's working," Athena said. "You're fading away." But then the fading stopped, making Zoe only translucent, not transparent. She almost looked like a ghost. "Why did you stop?" Athena asked.
"I didn't. I'm still thinking about being invisible."
"Well, you stopped fading." She paused for a moment. "Make yourself visible again."
Zoe closed her eyes and thought about being visible again, but nothing happened. She opened her eyes and looked down at her translucent arms and body. "Why didn't it work?"
"Maybe I need to wish that we have the power to change back."
"But why couldn't I turn completely invisible? That's what you wished for. I heard it."
"I don't know. I ..."
Suddenly, a girl screamed somewhere nearby. Athena turned and saw the girl staring at Zoe. She looked like she had seen a ghost. And in a way, she had.
