"Look at that," Zoe said, nodding.
Athena turned her head (now Sarah's head) and looked. It was one of the Goths - Stephanie Wright. But now she wasn't Goth in the slightest. Her black hair was now dirty blond and pulled back into a ponytail, her pale skin was now tanned, and she was wearing a tight pink T-shirt with an outline of a glittery heart printed on the front, a white pleated micro miniskirt, and pink 4-inch heels. She caught them looking at her as she walked by and nearly snarled at them. "What are you looking at, you freaks?" Then she walked off and met up with the "new" Athena just outside the school.
"Maybe there's a way to change everyone back," Zoe said. "I know wishes can't be reversed, but maybe if I word it just right ..."
"No," Athena said. "Until I do some research, I don't think anyone should use that stone. The way it's been working ... it's almost like it's broken or something." Athena was really into the occult, so if there was something wrong with the stone, she could easily find out what.
"What should I do with it then?" Zoe asked.
"Give it to me. I'll keep it safe."
Zoe was about to give it to her, when she suddenly realized that she didn't have it anymore. "It's gone," she said, with wide eyes. "I must have been so freaked out about becoming Steve that ..."
"Did you drop it?"
"I don't think so," Zoe said. She looked around and underneath the bench. "It's not here. Where could it be?"
Athena thought for a moment, then realization came to her. "You're Steve now. And your grandfather wouldn't have given the stone to Steve. He would have given it to you."
"So, what are you saying? That Steve, or the new me, I mean, has the stone?"
Athena nodded. "And we have to find him before he makes a wish. It could turn into a disaster."
Meanwhile, the "new" Zoe Gibson (formerly Steve Farber, although she doesn't remember) was walking down one of the school hallways. And in her hand was the stone.
