Jon looked different.
"What's wrong, Karyn?" asked Jon. "My voice ... it's not quite right."
Karyn's blue eyes were wide open. She pointed at Jon with the trembling index finger of her left hand. "Your whole look isn't quite right, Jon. Your clothes are the same ... though maybe not the same size ... and you still look like you ... sort of."
Jon turned to look at himself in the mirror in Karyn's bedroom. "I look like my own cousin or something. There's a family resemblance, but ... why would my mom not being a lawyer change me like this? Change my genes? I was born long before she must've gone to law school. This doesn't make any sense."
Karyn still held the stone. "I wish I knew why Jon's appearance changed."
She gasped again.
