Jon Madison walked to school, thinking about how Sarah deserved to be taken down a few notches. He had seen her put down girls like Gladys Brewer and Kyla Leeson. It was about time she learned what it felt like to be unpopular. Jon wondered how ugly Sarah was. Was she fatter than Gladys now? More freckled than Jay Duncan? Jon didn't think fat and freckles were negative traits, but many of his classmates did. Although Sarah was now the "ugliest" girl at school according to their majority opinion, she might not look so bad to Jon.
Jon even considered the possibility of going out with the new Sarah. A pity date. He could reject her at the end and break her heart, just as she had shattered the spirits of so many boys and girls over the years. Once she had learned her lesson, he could reinterpret his wish so that she wasn't so ugly once she graduated from school. He didn't intend to mess up her entire life.
Maybe he had made her like a werewolf. He did say "ugliest girl in school," implying that she could still be pretty off campus. What if she decided to homeschool - or, more likely given her wealth - have private tutors - to avoid turning ugly?
Lost in his thoughts, Jon walked into Lake Point High School and bumped into a girl with long straight blonde hair. She began to turn her head. Jon braced himself for the worst. "S-Sarah?"
