And just a minute or so later, Jon made it to the park first, not even realizing that he had just become a little more feminine in some way.
When Karyn finally caught up to Jon a minute later she started to laugh after she looked down and noticed that his shoes were a pair of girls' running shoes. Sure they didn't scream girl, as some shoes are pretty gender neutral, but it was the little pink line along the heel that gave them away. With a little bit of a giggle in her voice, she said, "There's not anything your trying to tell me is there Jon?"
Feeling kind of confused as to what Karyn was talking about and why she was looking at him a little funny he said, "Huh, what are you talking about?"
Seeing the confused look on Jon's face she decided to just point it out to him, "Jon, when you were getting ready this morning you didn't grab the wrong pair of shoes did you? Because, it looks like your wearing a pair of your mother's running shoes."
Looking down Jon examined his shoes in more detail, and noticed that they were not a pair he owned. In fact, they looked a lot nicer than any of the shoes he usually wore, then he noticed the little bit of pink and figured out what Karyn was kidding him about. "Damn, I was running late again this morning and used the stone to help me get ready. I guess when I asked to get dressed it just grabbed a pair of my mom's shoes and I just didn't notice. Hey, at least they were not high heels," he joked.
"Jon, your still getting up late? What the use of getting a new clock if you keep cutting it off when it goes off," Karyn huffed.
"Hey, it's not my fault, I just bought the thing a few days ago, and the off button is in the same place the old clock's snooze button was. But, I'm glad you noticed the shoes, even if it is a little embarrassing now, it would have been a lot worse if I had been caught wearing girl's shoes by the guys at school. Especially, if it had been the jocks. Well, it looks like I'll be using my wish to exchange my shoes with a set of my own shoes."
Reaching into his pocket Jon pulled out the stone, which was hidden in his hands and make a wish.
