Like all possessors of this particular stone, Zoe thought it was the wishing stone (the one that Jon had inherited from his grandfather). But Zoe thought that she had inherited from her grandfather, and not Jon.
So, she had no idea that the stone would disappear after her first wish.
Clutching the stone, Zoe said "I wish ..."
