"I wish Karyn was here," Jon said. He wanted to make sure she was around when he made his wishes, otherwise her memories would change to fit the new reality.
The stone glowed, granting his wish, and Karyn appeared in his room, fully dressed and ready to go, although looking a bit rattled and confused.
Jon put the stone down and smiled at her.
"Jon? What the hell? What am I doing in your room?" she asked.
"I wished you here. I wanted to use the stone a little more, but I didn't want your memories to change."
"How considerate," she said sourly. "Couldn't you have just waited until we met up at school?"
"Sorry. I guess I was just too excited."
Karyn sighed, then shook her head. "So where is it? Come on, since I'm here, you might as well get on with it."
Jon smiled and then turned around to pick up the stone, but it was gone! "What? Where'd it go?!"
"It's gone?" Karyn asked.
"I put it right here, just a minute ago," Jon said. How could it go missing like that?
Unknown to Jon and Karyn, the stone was actually The Missing Stone, and shortly after Jon made his wish and put it down on his nightstand, the stone disappeared from his room and reappeared somewhere else.
