"I think we should help Zoe." Karyn told Jon.
"I had a feeling you'd say that. Aren't you worried about the conspiracy?" He asked her. Karyn nodded.
"Of course. It probably is more important but it's not going anywhere." She pointed at Sage Jon on the bed. "He's still out cold, so won't be going anywhere for a while either."
Jon couldn't fault her logic. He slipped the new flip phone into the backpack. He gave it to Karyn. "You better take the new phone. If you get stuck on your own again, you might be able to phone for help."
"That's a good idea." She paused. "What do you mean MIGHT be able to phone for help?"
"You can contact other versions of us but they'll have no idea where you're calling from." Jon told her. Karyn thought about it for a minute.
"Doesn't every divergence have like it's own code or something?" She asked him. He nodded.
"It comes up on the DTH screen but I rarely use it for anything." Karyn put her hands up in disbelief.
"Not for you, you idiot, for me. If you decided to go somewhere by yourself I could text the code to myself. If I need rescued I can just text it to another Jon and Karyn on the new phone. They could come and get me then bring me back here." Jon was impressed with Karyn's thinking again. For all that his brain had been enhanced he was still missing things she found obvious. He thought they complimented each other very well. He began reading.
"two, four, two, four, one..." She interrupted him.
"Wait a minute, why are you telling me that number now?" She asked.
"That is the code for the previous divergence. The current divergence doesn't get a code till it branches. Whoever you contact will need that code."
"Can't they just use the recall thing?" He shook his head. As clever as she was, he knew there was still some stuff she didn't understand.
"That will only take them back to their recall point, not yours. This code will take you back here at the last divergence."
"Ah, I see." She said as she pulled out her own phone. "Okay what was the number again?"
"two, four, two," She typed as Jon read the number, "four, one, three, six. It's quite a short one."
"Okay, got it." She put the phone away.
"And don't hop here from this bedroom, otherwise you'll end up running into us discussing what to do, after finishing the phone call with Zoe." Karyn nodded.
"This is all very meta."
"It is indeed." He agreed. He started programming the DTH. "Hmmm...., there are several new divergence points in the Zoe's world timeline, since we were last there. I'll pick the last one. That should hopefully be the one the stone created."
"I hope so." Karyn said as she took his hand. He pressed a button and they vanished.
