Jon stepped out of his front door and immediately noticed that there was someone waiting there. "Ready to go?" the boy asked. He wasn't sure, but he thought the boy's name was Chris Moore, a freshman. Just like me, Jon thought, a bit sourly.
"Uh, yeah," Jon answered.
On the way to school, Chris went on and on about an online game he was playing, a movie he saw over the weekend, and the previous night's new episode of his favorite TV show. But about halfway to the school, he suddenly stopped walking. He noticed that Jon wasn't talking. It was just a one-sided conversation.
"Jon, what's with you?" he asked. "You haven't said a word since we left your house."
Jon looked at the boy. He didn't know what to tell him. He just didn't know anything about Chris, other than his name.
"I need your help with something ... magic," Zoe said, pulling out the stone. "It's a wishing stone. Ms. Wright said I told her about it and she made a wish. But I never showed it to her."
Athena looked at the stone and touched it, sensing great power from it. Zoe didn't let it out of her own hands though. "Maybe you did, but you don't remember. Why don't you just wish to remember?"
"That's a good idea. I don't know why I didn't just think of that myself." She paused for a moment, thinking of what to say, then said "I wish ..."
