Jon recalled first getting the vial. It was a bizarre thing for his grandfather to have sent him, but there was something about the note it came with. He read the note and the explanation and by some enchantment on the paper ended up believing without a doubt that the thing does what it says.
But even then, he wasn't sure he understood it. It grants wishes when opened but has to be used within a day? Does that mean he could get wishes granted after opening it but before using it? He took off the lid and there was fluid in it which looked disgusting, mostly because he knew what it was. But he touched his finger to it and made a wish. Nothing special, just a hundred dollars... which appeared in front of him.
Karyn laughed when he explained it and said "no way am I going to get pregnant", but then she didn't really believe such a strange thing was real. Until he demonstrated it, and she touched it and made the accidental wish about her hair and breasts.
But that was yesterday. Today was another day. And he had to use it within a day. Jon glanced at his clock. He had opened the vial at 8:30 last morning. It was 7:30 now, which meant he had an hour left to make his last wishes on it and then use it to make someone pregnant. But how was he going to do that?
