After a single wish for clothes--and jeans and sneakers could be worn by both sexes; all that he needed to change was the size--Jon began the day as normal, except that he was wearing the wishing panties and was female from the waist down. In fact, there was a bit of a gradual change above the waist--obviously it wouldn't make any sense to have a girl's smaller waist while the flesh immediately above it kept its previous size. And the fact that he could have a period meant that there must be some internal anatomical changes that were, strictly speaking, above the waist.
The first class of the day was history. He entered, sat down--next to Karyn--and nobody noticed except her, and she just gave Jon a glance and pretended not to. He was almost able to ignore the changes to his body until the end of the class, when he got up and passed his friend Joseph on the way to the class.
"Are you all right?" asked Joseph. "You look funny. Like you shrunk. And you're walking funny, too."
"That's silly," replied Jon. "I didn't..." But he was looking at Joseph about an inch or more below his eyes. That wasn't right. He realized that his lower half, since it was a girl's, must not quite be as tall. "Hmm, maybe I have. But I'm not sure you'd believe me if I told you. I mean it's not hard to prove, but...."
"If this is private medical information, I know it's none of my business."
"No," replied Jon, "this can't stay private. I'm a girl from here down," he said, holding his right hand horizontally at his waist level.
"What? I don't understand. You mean you feel weak?"
"Maybe a little bit," replied Jon. "But no, I mean it literally. I had a magical transformation. My anatomy is female."
"Uh-huh," said Joseph. "Where are your breasts?"
"I only changed from the waist down."
Joseph seemed puzzled, thought about it, and finally said "Er, if you did you'd be using the girl's bathroom now. Go do that and then tell Jimmy Gordy; I'm sure he'd believe you. Have fun."
Jon realized as Joseph walked away that it was impossible to transform like that. Impossible enough that now that it had happened to him anyway, the only possible reaction would be that he was lying or pulling a prank. He might be able to get people to think that he had lost weight, but nobody would believe that he had magically gained half of the body of a girl just because his pants fit differently.
Jon relaxed then. Maybe surviving this way this wasn't as hard as it had seemed.
Until he realized that his next class was gym....
