As they walked out onto the football field (okay, Jon actually waddled out), Jon turned to Sarah and said "I can barely move. How exactly am I going to practice?"
She gave him an odd look. "You're not supposed to move, Jon. You're here for good luck."
"Good luck?"
When they met up with the other girls, a few of them looked relieved that Jon was there.
"Finally," one of them said. It was Melissa Smith, one of Sarah's closest friends. "Now that Jon is here, we can get started. So, let's go, girls."
Jon watched them practice and was amazed by how seamlessly fluidic their movements were. In fact, he had never seen them do their moves so perfectly before. It was almost magical.
"Psst. Jon," he heard a voice say. He turned and saw Karyn sitting near the bleachers. "Way to go, Jon-boy. I knew you'd make a great cheerleader."
Jon's eyes burned. He waddled over to her. "Karyn! Why did you make that wish?! You ..."
Suddenly, there was a shriek from behind him. He turned around and looked at the cheerleaders with wide eyes. Apparently, they were making a pyramid, standing on each other's shoulders, but then fell to the ground.
"My foot! I think I broke my foot!" one of the girls yelled.
Sarah looked around maddeningly. "Where's Jon?"
Wait a minute, Jon thought. Did I do that? Apparently, he did bring good luck, when he was standing near them. But once he stepped away to talk to Karyn, things went horribly bad for them.
"What the hell do you think you're doing?!" Sarah yelled, stomping towards Jon and Karyn.
