Yeah, I understand just why it might seem (or even be) incoherent on Lucas's part. And I understand that because, well, that incoherency would likely also be in me.
Lucas doesn't intend to become a deity - she wants deities and mortals to walk together. She wants equality between deities and mortals, and was put in a position where she might fight to obtain that. The whole shebang with deities now appearing actually happened before Lucas got involved in it.
Likewise, it's less about serving than it is about... Mmm... Let's put it this way: Lucas feels she owes that goddess a great deal, she feels she had some degree of friendship with her and she feels in good part fucking-fanboy-smitten about it. It's less about serving per se than it is about a weird kind of celebrity-worship thing (which should get better soon). This is alleviated by the fact that Selene herself is mature and understanding enough to wait for Lucas to, shall we say, recover her bearings on that one issue.
The "guardian angel of freedom" thing seemed like a fair idea, but, moreover, like what two priests might say. I can change it, no biggie.
My plan with Lucas was for her to cross boundaries and create an equal relationship between humans and deities. Especially seeing as the gods are now returning and, in returning, might create a huge issue by, well, wanting to RULE.
As for jumping the shark, I'll see what I can do to avoid the point of no return here. >.> Maybe even creating a situation in which Lucas becomes sorta like Wonder Woman - not in power, but in her dealings with deities and so on. As in, not everything has to be FUKKEN EPIC, but it would still involve the deities (especially as it has been like that for months now).
