"I wish nobody would see me in these shoes!"

There was a bright flash, and Jon looked down to see his pants replaced by a long, flowing white skirt, long enough to pool on the floor and completely conceal the heels. He could only get a cursory glance at it before he heard his mother say, "What are you doing in that, Jon? Where did you get it, for that matter?"

"Uh, I can explain, Mom..." Jon replied, still having trouble balancing on the heels.

"Please do," she said, staring suspiciously at him.

He struggled to find the words, and all the while his mother looked closer and closer to forcing an answer from him. Finally, he sighed, beginning to lift up the skirt, but just before it would have revealed the heels, he felt a sudden electric shock which forced him to let go. "Ow!" Before she could move, however, he yelled, "Wait!" and sat down on his bed to take the heels off. After having dropped them on the floor, he pointed to them. "I know you won't believe me but they're wishing shoes. Grandpa left them in his will. I wished no one would see me in them so they must have made this skirt so no one could," he mused, taking hold of the fabric and running his fingers through it. It was a very nice skirt.

His mother stared at him in silence for a long moment before starting to laugh. "That's absolutely ridiculous, but I guess it's no more ridiculous than my son suddenly having a white skirt and five-inch stiletto heels. So when were you planning on telling me about these?" she asked, smiling.

Jon relaxed a bit. "I was gonna tell you after school."

"I see. Well, dear, I think I'll be taking these now," she said, slipping her bare feet into the heels and wiggling her toes as best she could. "These are surprisingly comfortable," she smiled, turning and walking down the hall. "Oh, and for not telling me sooner, I wish you couldn't take that skirt off until you came home from school today," Jon's mom called back as she walked away.

Jon just sat there staring down the hall, and as it dawned in his mind what had just happened, he uttered, "Shit!" A sigh escaped him, and he picked up a pair of socks off the floor by his bed, putting them on followed by his sneakers. He got up to walk down the hall, and after nearly tripping several times, he blushed and gathered some of the long skirt in his hands, lifting it so he could walk. Today was going to be a long day.
