The cellphone, and the message from someone he didn't know, raised some worrying questions for Jon. He'd assumed this female disguise just an illusion, but now it seemed it was in fact a whole new identity and with a life of their own.
Jon examined the contents of his handbag again. He withdrew his purse and found a driving licence inside.
"Ooh, I can drive! And I'm 24 years old, and my name is," Jon paused, "Scarlet. Scarlet Sucklewood. Typical. I might've guessed my first name."
Rooting through her handbag some more, Scarlet found her car keys and a set of house keys. There was an address on her driving licence and an unpaid power bill in her handbag that matched it. It was an apartment in the centre of town. She also found a hairbrush, lots of make-up and a tampon. That final item gave Scarlet such troubling imagery that she had to put her handbag aside, for now.
Was she single? Married, even? Though she wasn't wearing a ring, so probably not. But Scarlet was curious for more. She wondered what kind of life this female form lived, and to do that she would need to meet people who knew her. So Scarlet picked up her phone and played back the message.
