"Jon, hurry up dear or you'll be late," Jon's mother shook her son, who was still in bed with his covers pulled over his head.
"Uurrrgh," Jon stirred finally before uttering, "Don't wanna "
"You have school today Jon, this isn't Saturday," his mother chided him while she picked up yesterday's clothes. It was then that she located the lipstick, hidden in one of Jon's socks.
Curious, she removed the lid and saw the bright red colour underneath. It reminded her of a colour she liked back when she was a teenager and so Jon's mother applied it to her lips, wondering how she would look with it now.
"I don't wanna go to school," Jon moaned from under the covers. He lied, "I don't feel well."
"Don't play sick with me, young man," his mother called his bluff. "I'll pull off those sheet covers and so help me if you're not lying in your own vomit, you're going to school. See you downstairs in five minutes."
"Urrgh... okay," Jon gave up, but tried to sound sickly just in case his last efforts would change his mother's mind.
"Five minutes, or you won't have time for breakfast."
She left the lipstick on Jon's desk and exited his room to let her son get dressed for school.
