>>A bit on the fritz with this branch, I may not continue it.<<
Before they could continue planning, they felt compelled to close their eyes again. Just as quickly as the sensation washed over them, it had subsided, only this time nothing seemed different.
"Zoe!" Karen shouted. "We have to stop Ryder, help me set up this computer!"
"And this computer is going to help us, how~?" She states sardonically.
"I'll tell you as we set it up. Now hurry If Ryder keeps wishing, who knows what could happen!" Karen responds.
Jon pipes up. "And what about..."
Karen quickly interrupts her. "You need to text Ryder. Apologize, and tell him you want to meet up!"
"But the comput..."
"Just do it!" Karen tugs Zoe out the front door, offering her a hasty explanation as she does.
Jon pulls out her phone, yet despite her trepidation finds it remarkably easy to text Ryder. She begins pecking away at the screen.
"Hey Ryder. I realy want to meet up with you t"
Another wish washes over them, prompting Jon to send her text immediately and keep sending them rapid fire.
"tonite."
"Your right."
"I haven't ben myself."
"We need to meet up."
"So I can apologize."
After a pause she adds.
"Plz?"
Jon sits back with a hand on her head as she waits nervously for his response. Karen and Zoe clumsily place the old all-in-one on the coffee table as Karen hastily declares. "Alright Jon, you can have my old computer. It's yours. Now let's see if YOUR computer has that file from your wish." Zoe stands behind him, arms crossed.
Jon nods her head, then sits before the dusty monitor. Zoe clumsily connects the devises, which Karen adjusts for Jon. After an uncomfortably long amount of time, the computer whirs and ticks past the startup screen, and finally presents a tacky blue menu and a rolling green hill.
"YES!" Jon shouts, before looking around the screen.
"Well?" Karen impresses. "Where's the file supposed to be?"
"I... I don't know." Jon stammers. "It was just here last time."
Zoe grumbles and throws her head back in frustration, while Karen just sighs.
"Look, Jon, this was a long shot anyway. This just means we have to get the stone back."
Jon continues to stare at the screen, desperately, then begins frantically clicking through the files and menus. Only the flash of another wish, and the buzzing of her phone startles her back to reality.
With trepidation, Jon picks up her phone reads the messages she's received. "Fine, but I wish you'd tell me the truth for a change."
Zoe and Karen both groan, while Jon just throws up her hands. "Well great! The stone grants text wishes now!"
"Or he said his text out loud too..." Zoe interjects.
"Either way! What am I going to tell him if I have to tell him the truth?" The sisters fall into a stern silence before Karen chimes in.
"The truth." She states, to the surprise of the other two. Karen shrugs. "Remember what we found last night?" She prompts Jon. "Allie... You're pregnant."
"WHAT?!" Zoe shouts.
Jon gestures for her sister to calm down. "It-It's not like that at all! That was Allie not me."
"Does it matter?" Karen quips. "It's the truth, and it would explain everything, and give you the chance to get the stone back too."
The room goes quiet before Jon nods and says. "Yeah... Ok. Let's do this." She picks up her phone and continues reading the texts. "He wants to meet up at the school so that, uhh, 'the bitch' can't interfere." Zoe rolls her eyes.
"Alright." Karen declares. "I'll go with you, just text me if you think there's a chance for me to steal the stone. Zoe, stay here and see if you can find anything in Jons computer!"
"And why can't I come? It's my stone!"
"Because if he sees you, he'll either know it's you, and that his wishes worked, or think Allie brought you along on purpose!"
Another wish washes over the trio and with growing anxiety, and Zoe throws up her hands. "fine, just hurry!"
With that Jon and Karen scurry out the door.
