And after opening the door, Jon saw Athena DeVries, his sister's best friend.
"Zoe's room is next door," Jon said, although he wasn't sure why he had to tell her that. She had been in Zoe's room lots of times.
"I'm not here to see Zoe. I'm here to see you," she said.
"Me? Why?"
"Well, because of that, of course," she said, pointing at Jon's foot. The gothic girl took an old worn book out of her bag and opened it. "Lucky for you, I'm a witch."
"You mean, you really are a witch? I thought it was just a rumor."
"Nope. Not a rumor. Now ..." she trailed off, looking through the book. "Somewhere in here, there's a spell that should just do the trick."
"Wait a minute. How did you know that I needed to get this thing off of my foot?" Jon asked.
