"Did you wake up on the wrong side of the bed this morning?" Karyn asked Jon, after they met at their usual spot outside the school.
"What's that supposed to mean?" he asked.
She pointed to his hair. "Couldn't find a comb?" She snickered.
"I can have my hair anyway I want. So, mind your own fucking business."
Karyn looked stunned. "Jon, are you feeling okay?"
"Of course I'm feeling okay. Why would you even ask that?"
"Well, you're acting kind of strange and ..."
Jon wasn't paying attention. He looked around him at some of the people walking into the school and at others who were standing around talking to one another.
"Jon? What is it?"
"Fucking assholes," he muttered to himself. "Why don't they just fuck off?"
Karyn grabbed Jon's arm. "Jon, seriously. What is wrong with you?"
Jon shrugged her off and approached a group of students who were talking amongst themselves. "I know you're talking about me. Making fun of me."
One of the group, a guy named Zach Jones, turned and said "I don't know what you're talking about."
Jon's eyes burned. "Of course you do. But you know what? I say, fuck you. Fuck ... you." He turned around and walked back to Karyn, but then stopped and twirled on his heels back towards the group of students. "I wish you would just stay out of my way!" he yelled.
The stone glowed and the group moved away from him and into the school.
