"I wish Karyn was here," Jon said. He wanted to make sure she was around when he made his wishes, otherwise her memories would change to fit the new reality.
The stone glowed, granting his wish, and Karyn appeared in his room, fully dressed and ready to go. Unknown to him, however, a tiny crack appeared in the shell of the egg.
"Jon?" she asked. "What happened?"
"I used the stone to bring you here. I guess I couldn't wait to meet you at school."
"And how did you know that I'd be dressed?" she asked.
"Oops. I guess I didn't. Sorry, I was just too excited to get you over here."
Karyn didn't like Jon's carelessness, but she could at least understand it. The stone did make life more exciting, or at least more interesting.
"So, do you already have a wish in mind?" she asked.
"Yep. I wish ..." Jon began.
