It wasn’t something that Zane liked to admit, and shi would never tell hir friends and family, but Zane was afraid of getting pregnant. Sure, having your period was supposed to be a woman’s right of passage. A sign that a young gurl was finally becoming a woman but Zane hated getting hir monthly.
It made hir feel ill and shi hated the sight of blood in hir boxers. Why hadn’t someone come up with a way to deal with that yet? Zane thought back to when hir mother was pregnant with hir brother, Michelle-Anne, and how big hir mother got. Sure, hir mom said that it was a pretty painless experience, but Zane didn’t like the idea of having something growing inside of hir and getting that big.
As shi thought about hir wish, Zane wondered why it was women who got pregnant instead of menne. Menne were much better suited to getting pregnant. They were the ones who looked after the children anyway so it made sense that they should be the ones who carried them during pregnancy. And besides, they always talked about how many children they wanted to have. Zane always hated hearing bois gossiping at school about their dream family. It was all they ever talked about, well that and clothes of course.
Zane made up hir mind. Shi knew what shi was going to wish for.
"I wish menne got pregnant instead of women."
Zane looked away as the stone granted hir wish.
