Zoe thought it would be interesting to be able to change her appearance or clothes at will. So she tried a wish. "I wish that I have the power to turn into any kind of girl I want at will, wearing whatever clothes and makeup I want, for however long I want."
The wish seemed to work--or at least she had a strange irritation in her eye as if something briefly looked strange. Then Zoe concentrated and tried to grow her dark hair longer.
Nothing happened.
"I wish I knew why that didn't work."
Nothing happened. No strange knowledge came to her. And even Jon wouldn't get any knowledge, since after all it did work, so knowing why it didn't work wouldn't do anything.
"I wish I was in my room with the stone."
Nothing happened. She was still in Jon's room. Of course, the stone was the Target Stone, which made it so that Jon was in Jon's room with the stone--which was already true.
"I wish I have a hundred dollars in my pocket!" Then she checked her pockets. Nothing. "Damn! Does it only give three wishes or something? No, it couldn't be, if it did he would have used them already..." She put down the stone again and stormed out of the room.
Once the morning came, Jon woke up as normal. Everything was okay... had the stone been moved? No, couldn't be. He picked up the stone and tried a quick wish to be showered and clothed. In a flash, he was. Satisfied, he pocketed the stone, as well as the hundred dollars from the pants he had fallen asleep in.
Indeed the stone hadn't affected Jon much. Except that he now had the ability to transform into various kinds of girls at will. Moreover, the new stone still changed reality, so Jon's life was now as if he had had such a power all along. And having such a power can change your life quite a bit. Jon had pretended to be his cousin from out of town a couple of times, and even gone on dates with guys. It was a great power to have when he wanted to go somewhere without anyone knowing that he was there. He'd impersonated other people a few times, and even had helped Karyn when she needed to be in two places at once. Once he turned into a girl who crossdressed as a guy, which was easier than it sounds since he could choose a more masculine girl form. Then there were the things he had decided were too dangerous to try--becoming a cheerleader, for instance, would mean a long period of time as the same person and could make for awkward schedule conflicts. Or becoming a pregnant woman--since he didn't know what would happen if he tried to change back.
He ate breakfast, got his stuff together, and went to school....
