"I wish Karyn was here."
But nothing happened, of course. "I don't think this is anything like the real stone," he said.
Then he heard several doors opening and Karyn walked right into his room. "Sorry about that," she said. "I walked into Zoe's room by mistake."
"Huh?" said Jon. "I just teleported you here using the stone. You're telling me you were in Zoe's room?"
"Well, of course. I just made a mistake and..."
"Wait a minute, Karyn, you didn't make a mistake, I did! I wished you were here. You didn't hear the wish so you would think you just came here by walking. Only, it didn't work. You were in Zoe's room instead. You thought you came there by walking."
"You mean there's a fake stone that gives any wishes to Zoe?"
"I think so. Let me check... I wish there was a picture of me that accidentally fell right outside Jon's windowsill. There we go." Jon opened his window, pushed aside the bug screen, and looked down... sure enough, a photograph of Zoe had gotten caught on a bush right outside his window. "I think we can use this stone anyway... but we'd better use names. Don't say 'me', say 'Jon'. It doesn't matter if Zoe gets the wish... if she wishes for something to happen to Jon that's the same thing as if I do."
"Are you sure?"
"No. But let me try something."
