Karen fumbles as she drops the computer to the sidewalk with a clatter. She winces at the streaked gouges in her hand, then hurries through the door to her friend.
"Jon! What happened?" she cries.
Jon looks to her friend, but before she can say anything Zoe interjects.
"Jon? Who's Jon?"
"Oh, Uh... Zoe?" Karen grimaces, then tries to correct herself before Jon interrupts her.
"It doesn't matter Karen." Jon shouts. "Ryder just took the wishing stone."
Karen's face deadpans, while Zoe's only becomes more animated. The younger goth's confusion turns to anger as she attempts to bring the circumstances into focus. "Allie! You knew about the stone this whole time, and you told someone?!" She jabs an accusing finger at Karen "What do you have to do with this, and how'd you find out about it anyway? You better not have gone through my stuff!"
Zoe looks like she's about to continue when Jon shouts. "Zoe... It's not what it looks like." She pleads. A hand goes to her forehead as she tries to process the events. When she continues it's with a more even tone. "Besides, Ryder has the stone...Ryder has the stone, and we have to get it back."
Zoe growls. "Yeah, and he knows what it is since you just TOLD HIM!" she shouts the final words. "Is there anyone else you've blabbed to?"
"No!" Jon insists. "I only took the stone because it was mine."
"What?" Zoe fumes.
Karen holds up her hands as she returns to her senses. "H-hold on." The pair look to her, one with fury, the other with relief. "Zoe, there's a lot going on here that you need to know."
"You think?" she quips, her eyes beam her distrust, yet she remains silent long enough for Karen to continue.
"Zoe, the stone is... Was originally Jon's. Jon Madison. Your older brother..." Karen pauses as she let's the words sink in.
For a brief moment, Zoe recoils, almost as if she's been struck. "Older brother?"
Karen nods slowly. "That's right. And Jon is now Allie, your older sister, thanks to a stupid wish."
Jon flusters, then stammers to defend herself."I-it wasn't really a wish that did this, it was more of..."
Karen crosses her arms, and glares. "It was a wish." She states firmly. Jon is left with her mouth hanging open, then nods meekly.
Zoe, holds her forehead and shuts her eyes. "But, Allie and I have known each other our whole lives..."As she voices her confusion, a hand goes to the couch to stabilize her reeling world.
"That's how the stone works, Zoe." Karen utters sympathetically.
"I know how it works!" Zoe snaps. Her voice trembles, betraying more emotion than she meant. The girl turns, sighs, then faces the pair again. "So, that..." She points to Jon. "Isn't Allie, it's this 'Jon'?" Jon and Karen both nod prompting Zoe to continue slowly. This time her voice becomes timid and low. "How long?" she peeps.
"How long have I had the stone?" Jon asks dumbly. Her words are slow and confused.
Zoe clarifies with exasperation. "How long have you been... this!" She waves her hands, gesturing to Jons body.
Karen and Jon share a glance before Jon mutters. "Uhh, since Tuesday? Tuesday night?"
Zoe sighs. "The same night I made my wish..."
The other two perk up at that. "What do you mean?" Karen probes.
"It doesn't matter," Zoe begins. "The only thing that matters now is that Ryder has the stone and we have to get ..."
A sudden tension falls on the air, and quite suddenly all three of them are compelled to close their eyes as their world becomes quite different.
