Jon didn't think going to school would make much of a difference, given the circumstances, but he went anyway. It would at least give him the opportunity to see any changes, if anyone else showed up.
He walked into the school, which was mostly empty, and kept walking until he heard voices. They were coming from the main office.
He walked in and saw an assortment of people arguing with each other. He didn't see Mr. Davison, the school principal, but he did see the assistant principal Mr. Sheppard (now looking like a doctor), the principal's 27-year old secretary Debbie Stern (now looking like some kind of biker's girlfriend), and three teachers (all looking strange in their new clothes). When Jon walked into the main office, they stopped their bickering and turned towards him. Mr. Sheppard moved towards him and guided him out of the room. "Until we can figure out what's happening, there's no school today."
"Shouldn't someone be making an announcement or something?" Jon asked. "You know, so everyone knows?"
"I think people are smart enough to figure it out on their own, given the circumstances." He smiled weakly at Jon, then went back into the main office.
Jon stood in the middle of the empty hall, wondering what he should do next.
