Before Jon could grab the stone, it was picked up by his mom.
"Did you drop this, Jon?" she asked.
"Yes. Can I have it back now?" Jon said, urgently.
"I wish you'd be a little more courteous towards me Jon. How about saying the word 'please' every now and then?"
Jon cringed as he heard his mom said the words 'I wish'. But, he supposed, it wasn't a world-changing wish. And being a little more polite wasn't a bad thing.
"Please?" he asked.
She smiled and gave it back to him.
"Thanks."
Unknown to Jon (or his mom), the wish she made wasn't so harmless, as it had sealed her fate to the stone for the rest of her life. And somehow the stone would make it back to her, even if Jon tried to stop it.
