A sudden shiver ran through her body, but Zoe thought nothing of it.
"That's not what magic is for, Zoe," Athena chided her gently. "Believe me, that sort of thing only makes everything worse."
"If you say so," Zoe sighed, finally calming down. "It would be nice, though."
"Look, right now, you still have us. Even if we are the persecuted ones, we're together. And that's what will keep us strong."
Zoe regarded the taller girl for a while. "You really believe that, don't you."
"Of course. It's idealistic, I know, but it's true."
Not having a good reply, Zoe just shrugged. Looking ahead, she noticed that Jon had finished his conversation and had headed inside with Karyn. Brett saw her and waved the group over. "Zoe! Athena! Zelda! Glad you could make it!"
