As Jon woke up he remembered what day it was and smiled. It was Friday, just one more day of school before the weekend, but that wasn't all. He'd been looking forward to this day for months, it was probably the most important day of the year.
For today was the day of Brett Levitt's party. Brett was the biggest budding socialite in school. Everybody in school knew who he was and he made a point of being friends with everybody. A few months ago, Brett had started circulating fliers for the quote-unquote biggest event of the year - a fancy-dress Halloween party to celebrate his last year of high school, at his rich parent's large home on the edge of town. He called it BrettFest.
The flier described the party as unmissable, friendly fun and with open-entry to absolutely anyone in school. The flier deliberately did not describe the fact that this was totally unsupervised, full of alcohol and in a property so large it could go on all night with no chance of pissing off the neighbours, but everyone knew this anyway. And no one was planning on missing out.
Even the nerds, goths and other cliques were planning to attend. Brett truly got on well with everyone and made attempts to accommodate everyone, even those who weren't the typical party type. He even promised rooms playing alternative music and some Playstations for those guests who wanted them, and he had the money to deliver on his promises.
Jon and Karyn were going to BrettFest, too. In fact, for weeks Jon had been contemplating asking Karyn out to, or at, the party. They'd been friends a long time, but Jon had hoped to take it further. Unfortunately because of Karyn's magical growth spurt yesterday, this had suddenly become much harder. Jon now had to be extremely careful, otherwise to suddenly ask his friend Karyn out right after her breasts had doubled in size would make him look shallow or perverted. Jon's plan was to take Karyn to the party as a friend, then only if the chance presented itself would he ask her the important question. To push it could end in disaster.
Jon got dressed for school and planned out his day.
He still needed to get a costume for the party. He'd been hoping to rope Karyn into a tandem-themed fancy dress, but she'd remained tight-lipped about what she was going to wear. At least there was the whole school day to pry Karyn about her choice - then he could head to the mall later and pick up something appropriate, or anything at all if Karyn maintained the secrecy. Failing that, Jon could use the magic rock to wish up a costume that matched Karyn's choice.
