"I wish," he said, not knowing that it was a different stone, "that I didn't have to go to school today because today is Saturday." The stone glowed and he checked his watch, seeing that it really was Saturday. Jon jumped up in the air. "Woohoo! No school!"
This gave him a ton of time to experiment with the stone. A whole two days, in fact, when Sunday was counted too.
Karyn came by and they sat in his bedroom, thinking up a list of wishes they could make. Everything was going fine (they wrote down at least a dozen really good wishes), until Jon's bedroom was bathed in white light and suddenly Karyn was gone and so were all the written-down wishes.
"Jon? What are you still doing here?" It was his mom, passing by his open bedroom door.
"Huh? What do you mean? Where's Karyn?"
"Well, she's probably at school, which is where you should be. Didn't it start half an hour ago?"
"School? Why would Karyn be at school on a Saturday?"
"Jon, it's Tuesday, not Saturday."
What had happened? Why did time reverse itself? That wasn't part of his wish.
