There was a name carved into the stone. It was SARAH.
The first Sarah that Jon thought of was Sarah McMillan. "I wish I knew why Sarah's name is on it," he said, holding the stone. But nothing happened. No flash of light and no sudden knowledge flowing into his mind.
"What's wrong with this thing?"
Downstairs, the doorbell rang. He walked down there and answered the door. It was Karyn. "Hi, Jon."
"Hi, Karyn. I think there's something wrong with this," he said, holding up the stone with the name Sarah on it.
"Why is Sarah's name on it?"
"I don't know. I tried to make a wish, but it wouldn't grant it."
Karyn took it from Jon and made a wish to know herself, but it didn't work for her either. Karyn was pretty smart and thought that maybe it only worked for someone named Sarah.
If they couldn't use the stone, and only a person named Sarah could, then the only way for them to make their wishes come true would be to go out and find someone named Sarah and force her to make their wishes for them.
But how far were they willing to go?
