"How did you change back?" Karyn asked.
"Huh?"
"You're Jo again. Not that Don guy," Karyn said.
"What are you talking about?" Jo asked, clearly confused.
"Hi, Karyn," a boy named Tim Brant said, walking towards them. Tim and his friend Pete were friends with Jo and Karyn, and also Jon and Karyn (in the previous reality that Jo remembered). "Who's this?" he asked, smiling at Jo.
"What do you mean 'who's this'? It's me. Jo," she said.
"Sorry, I don't think we've ever met," he said. Then he turned towards Karyn. "Have you seen Don? I need to talk to him."
Karyn looked a little nervous, but then told Tim that she hadn't seen him. After Tim walked away, Jo asked Karyn "Who's Don?"
"You're Don," she said. "At least you were after you made that wish with the Genie Stone. You know, to get around the whole three-wish limitation problem?"
"Karyn, I didn't make a wish to become someone named Don, I ..."
"I know that. You told me you were trying to become a girl named Dawn, but you said it wrong or something and the stone thought you said Don."
Jo's eyes went wide as she realized what had happened. Since her past self (the one she switched stones with) wasn't Jon, but rather herself, it meant that she must have wished a completely new set of wishes, which in turn created a new reality where there was a boy named Don Gibson and Josephine Gibson never existed. Except, she did exist, right there, right now. But that was only because she time traveled from one reality to another. Presumably the boy named Don did exactly what she did (travel back in time to replace the real stone with the fake stone), otherwise he'd be right there with her. But in doing so, he must have traveled to another new reality, just like Jo had. This process could have been happening over and over again in an infinite number of realities! Jo almost got dizzy thinking about it.
"I don't think Don will be back anytime soon," Jo said.
