Wait, worse than detention? But I've never gotten detention, Sarah thought, but then realized that she was mistaken. She had gotten detention at least twice, for the same reason - arguing with the teacher. It was the same thing that landed her in the principal's office this morning. Although, for some reason, she couldn't exactly remember what set her off this time. She remembered getting bad news via a text, but other than that, she couldn't recall what the text was about or who it was from, just that it made her seriously pissed. She just shrugged. What did it matter? The end result was the same, and now she was going to get a double punishment, it seemed. She fully expected her parents to reprimand her, in addition to whatever punishment the school was going to dish out onto her. She folded her nearly pale arms and huffed.

"If you don't shape up, Miss McMillan, then you'll be in detention sooner than you think. Your attitude for the next few minutes will weigh heavily on whatever I choose to do with you," Melissa said, sitting behind the principal's desk.

"Sorry, Miss Smith," Sarah said, trying to sound as genuine as possible.

"There. That's better. Now, what shall we do with you?" asked the prim and proper teacher.

Zelda was glad that Miss Wright had decided to take her back to her own school. But on the ride over, she couldn't help but think that they had some sort of personal connection to each other. But that was silly, right? The teacher had to be at least ten years older than her. What possible connection could they have?

She couldn't wait to see her friends Athena, Lilly, Mikey, and Becky. But what an odd assortment of friends, right? After all, Zelda was kind of a cybergoth. She wasn't all decked out with the stereotypical look; she might have been a little too young for that ... maybe when she got into high school, but while Athena was kind of gothic herself, Lilly, Mikey, and Becky were not. But who said that a Goth needed to only have Goth friends?

======

"Sorry for the wait, Miss," Pastor David White said, finally arriving to his office and meeting Tiffany for the first time. Though as reality changed, that may not be true.
