Jon had to walk down three different hallways until he spotted Karyn. She had apparently already gone back to her locker to grab her books and was now heading to her class.
"Karyn!" Jon yelled. But she was too far down the hall to hear. He quickened his pace, but as he got closer, a hand reached out and grabbed him.
"Easier than I thought," the stranger said.
"Let go of me!" Jon yelled. Now he was attracting attention, especially from two of the hall monitors.
"Sir, let the boy go," one of them said.
"Or what?"
As the hall monitor was grabbing for his radio, the stranger waved his hand. Suddenly, the monitor was thrown backwards with a burst of light. He slowly stood up, clutching his head.
"Not enough, huh?" the man said. Then he smiled. "Need a little more incentive to leave me alone? Then take this." The guy that had already been knocked to the ground got hit with another burst of light. But this time it had an entirely different effect on him.
