In Jon's dreams, he was driving a car, which was crashing into a wall. Because the sound of a large crash had made its way into his dreams, and finally woken him up. He yawned and glanced over at the source of the sound... there was something large by his dresser....
Only it wasn't his dresser. Jon turned on the light and saw that his stone was several yards across. His dresser, of course, couldn't support a stone that size and had been crushed into splinters.
Jon could hear someone running up the stairs. His mother's voice yelled out, "Jon, is everything okay? What happened?"
Quickly Jon, not knowing if it would work, since that certainly was too big for his stone, wished that nobody else had noticed the crash and that his dresser would be back to normal.
Well, well, it did seem to work after all. "I wish this stone was small."
Nothing happened.
"I wish I knew why that didn't work."
A voice said in his head, "This stone is a replacement stone. The person who put it here wished that it would become big right after he put it down. To become small would reverse a wish."
"I wish I had my original stone back."
Nothing happened.
"I wish I knew why that didn't work."
With repeated questions like this, Jon eventually figured out that whoever replaced the stone didn't want to be found, and didn't want Jon to shrink the heavy stone or otherwise carry it around easily. So he'd wished that away. Now Jon was stuck with a huge stone. What could he do?
