Thinking that this was his only chance to get help, Jon pounded against the wallboard in front of him. And then he yelled "Please! I'm trapped in here! Somebody help me!"
But after a few minutes of that, there was no response. No one heard him. Or maybe they did, but they just ignored him. He cursed to himself, then looked down at the stone. It may have been acting a little strange, but right now it was his only hope for getting out of this situation.
"Linda? Did hear something?" Mr. Trenton asked Mrs. Redmond, a math teacher.
"No," she answered.
"I thought I heard someone yelling." He shook his head and smiled. "I guess my ears are playing tricks on me."
"That's what happens when you get older."
"Linda, I'm fifty. I'm not quite that old," he said, as the two of them walked down the hall.
Jon held the stone (which was actually The Literal Stone) in his hand and said "I wish ..."
