When morning came, Jon woke up and stretched his arms. He never thought he'd be able to get to sleep. Thoughts about what to do with the wishing stone kept him up well into the night.
He swung out of bed and grabbed the stone, not noticing that it was, in fact, a different stone. He was about to make a wish to be fully dressed and ready for school, but then stopped himself. It wasn't all that big of a deal to get ready, but he might want to use the stone to transport himself to the school when he was ready to go. That would at least save him a long walk.
After another twenty-five minutes, he was ready to go. He grabbed his schoolbag and left his bedroom, but then stopped when he remembered the stone. He went back in his room and grabbed it. "You're going to make my life a whole lot easier," he said to the inanimate object.
He went downstairs and left, briefly saying goodbye to his mom, who disapproved of him skipping breakfast. But with the stone, he could wish up his breakfast. Anything he wanted.
After he stepped off of his front porch, he took the stone out of his pocket and said "I wish ..."
