"I wish Jon would go back to his Physics class," Karyn said.
The stone glowed, but nothing happened.
"I told you," Jon said, a little irritated by Karyn not listening to him, snatching the stone back from Karyn.
"What's wrong with it?" Karyn asked.
"I don't know."
The other girls in the locker room weren't looking at Jon anymore. They were looking at the stone. One girl, named Allison, approached them. She was only wearing a bra and panties, but that was more than what the rest of them wore. Allison asked "What is that?"
"Huh?" Karyn said, turning towards her. "Oh. That's nothing."
"I saw it glow." The other girls agreed.
"Uh. Yeah. It glows." As if that answered her question. Then she whispered to Jon "We should get out of here."
"I know. I'd use the stone, but it isn't working right."
Karyn finished putting on her bra and grabbed the rest of her clothes. She stood up and was about to leave with Jon, but Allison grabbed her arm.
"Where are you and boyfriend going?"
"He's not my boyfriend."
"So, he's available?"
"Why do you want to know? You're not interested in him. Are you?" Karyn asked Allison.
"No. I was just asking." She paused for a moment and then asked, with a smile, "Are you?" Karyn's "relationship" with Jon was a common joke among the girls. Karyn had been friends with Jon since they were kids, but neither of them had a love interest. And they never went out with each other, even though they seemed really close.
"Well, uh. No."
Jon was a bit crushed. Deep down he wanted to date her, but he thought it would be weird because they were friends. Not even realizing he was doing it, he said "I wish you were my girlfriend."
