"I wish that I would appear right next to Karyn," he said with a smile. He didn't want to scare her by just popping up next to her out of thin air, but he wanted to show off to her. The stone was powerful and he could literally do anything.
He watched the stone glow, as it normally did when a wish was made. But then, nothing happened. His wish wasn't granted.
Jon was confused. He was about to make another wish to know why it wasn't working, when suddenly he heard his mom yell to him. "Jon! Better get going or you'll be late for the bus!"
Jon hurried to the school bus and got on. He was in such a hurry that he had totally forgotten about the stone not working right until his first class.
