Jon stared at his reflection. He couldn't believe his eyes. Not only had the stone turned him into a girl, but it also made him a maid! "What the hell?" he asked, with his new soprano voice, which surprisingly had a French accent.
From out in the hall, he heard his mother calling for him, except she wasn't using his name.
"Jenna? Are you in there?" She knocked on his door.
"What's happening?" Jon breathed to himself, as he hesitantly opened the door.
"Oh, you are," his mom said. "I'm so sorry that you have to go back to France. But I'm sure your new employer will appreciate your good work as much as I do." She grabbed Jon's hand and shook it. "Here's to better days. Good luck."
His mom just stood there, as if there was more to say. She was silent for a moment, then said "Don't you have to leave right now? I thought your bus was leaving soon."
"Uh, yeah," Jon said, moving past her and down the hall.
As he walked, Jon tried to figure out what was happening. He had to go back to France? He's never been to France! And he was getting the idea that he didn't even belong to this family anymore. What was going on?
