"Earth to Zoe? C'mon, other people have classes too!"
In a daze, I grabbed my bag and scrambled out of the car. Jon hadn't sounded angry, just irritated, but even so I didn't want to risk him "wishing" me to go faster. This was bad. How was I going to get the stone back from my other self? How long would I be stuck as Zoe?
I met Athena halfway across the courtyard. She opened her mouth to speak, but her smile quickly turned to a grimace as she looked over my shoulder. "Oh, great. It's that bitch from senior year. I wonder what she's going to call us today?"
I turned around and saw Sarah McMillan bearing down on us, flanked by two of her cheerleader friends. Sarah had always been catty and spiteful, but today she seemed... more intimidating, somehow. It took me a second to realize that as Zoe, Sarah was now taller than me. I had always known what a bitch Sarah could be to other people in my grade, but judging by Athena's comment, it seemed she extended her bullying to the younger girls as well.
Sarah continued striding towards us, an unpleasant smile on her face. Out of the corner of my eye, I also saw Jon, still in the car at the curb. His eyes kept flicking back and forth between Sarah, Athena, and me, apparently making the same connection I had a moment ago. With a start, I noticed his lips were moving. Before I could do anything, I felt a familiar sensation and had to look away...
