Karyn couldn't believe what she was seeing. Sure, she had made the wish that caused Jon to take any suggestions that he act more feminine to heart, but how quickly things had changed for him was amazing. She had been a bit worried when he missed their first class (the only one they shared), but when she ran into him at lunch time she could see the cause of his tardiness.

Not only had he worn the skirt she had suggested at the night before, but he had gone much further! Below his skirt Jon's legs were perfectly smooth. He had taken the time to shave them; she couldn't even see one knick. His standard t-shirt had been replaced with a blue blouse. Sadly, it totally didn't match the skirt, but Karyn realized that he was new to this new style of dress. Karyn wasn't the only one who noticed the mismatch, as other girls in the lunch room were looking at Jon and giggling.

Jon's face was done up nicely, although amateurishly. He had spent quite a bit of time applying make-up, but since he was just learning that too he had a bit to go before he could look professional. He had too much blush on, his eye-liner was smeared, and over-all it was a bit too thick.

He clunked over to her in his white Reebok sneakers and socks, thumped himself down on the chair across from Karyn, and sighed. Karyn thought she saw a flash of his panties under his skirt as he flopped.

"Hey Karyn," he looked vexed.

"Hey Jon."

"Everyone's looking at me funny," he started right in on his problem, "I don't know what's going on. Is it my new clothes?"

"Listen, Jon, I'm going to say this because I'm your friend. Don't take it the wrong way, okay?"

"Okay..."

"Your legs and that skirt look great on you. Your top and those shoes, though, they just don't go with the outfit!"

"What? But I..."

"No Jon," she tried to sound soothing, "You're trying really hard, but they just don't go. You need to learn. Why don't you start reading some fashion magazines? They'll show you how to dress and act more appropriately, more, you know, girlie."

Jon's face contorted. He obviously was having a problem with her wording. "What? Girlie? I don't want to have to read those magazines! I like to read about sports! Cars!"

He paused, then looked around the room. He took in all the other kids who were glancing his way and felt very self-conscious. It was true; it did love sports and cars, but suddenly his priorities seemed to shift a bit. Maybe if he were able to get a handle on why people were laughing at him he could then go back to his real reading materials.

"These magazines," his voice was quiet, meek, "You think they'd help?"

"Oh yes," Karyn replied emphatically, "You'll love them. They'll show you how to act, dress, talk, almost everything. They'll be like your new bible!"

Jon's eyes dropped to the table as he took all that she said in. "Okay, will you come to the library with me?"

Karyn was on her feet in a flash, grabbing Jon's hand, and pulling him behind her. "It would be my pleasure."
