One by one, the cheerleaders gathered in Sarah McMillan's basement. Tiffany Sanders, Melissa Smith, Amber Levine, Jessica Davis, Allison Wright and Erika Webber all sat in a large circle and held hands.
Sarah stood in the middle of circle and looked down at her sisters. "We have a new candidate, girls," she said, smiling. "Jon Gibson will soon become one of us."
As Sarah pulled out her cellphone and made her call to Jon, the rest of the cheerleaders chanted. It was a good way of luring their newest candidate to them. Like a siren's song.
Jon was just finishing the rest of his homework, when suddenly his cellphone rang. He didn't recognize the phone number ID, but he answered it anyway.
"Hello?"
"Hello, Jon." It was Sarah.
"What do you want, Sarah? And how did you get my cellphone number?" he asked.
"I want you to come to my house, Jon," she said, ignoring his questions.
"What? Why the hell would I ... what's that noise? Is that chanting?"
"Come to my house, Jon," she repeated.
"I don't ... I mean ... uh ... okay," he said. "I ... I'll come right now."
"Thank you, Jon. I'll be waiting."
Jon dropped the phone and stood up. He didn't know why, but he really needed to get to Sarah's house. He hated Sarah, but despite that, he needed to see her. As soon as possible.
So, he left his house and ran as fast as he could to her house.
