It finally dawned on Karyn that they were at the school instead of Jon's bedroom. The wishes must have somehow transported them there. Maybe because Jon was now part of the cheerleading squad? Perhaps. The cheerleaders had early morning practice, so that made sense that he'd be here instead of still at home. But why wasn't Jon noticing that things have changed? He heard the wish, just like she had, so shouldn't he realize that reality was different?
"You know, I think maybe things might have gone a little too far with this 'dual wishing' thing," Karyn said, holding the stone. "I wish I could understand how you could even be a cheerleader." Oops, she didn't mean to say that while holding the stone. But ... that was odd. How come the stone wasn't glowing? "Hey, it didn't grant my wish."
"Of course not, honey," Jon said femininely. "It won't grant your wish until another wish is made on it. Remember?"
"Wait a minute. Did you make a wish to make it like that? I thought it was just a one time thing. Are you saying that no wishes will be granted until two wishes are spoken while holding it?"
Jon nodded.
"Then here," she said, thrusting the stone into Jon's hands. "Make a wish. But don't make it something weird. I don't want someone else to make a wish that will end up weird after being mixed with mine." For some reason, it didn't occur to her that she could have just made a second wish herself.
Jon looked thoughtful for a moment, then smiled his painted lips. It was weird seeing him wearing lipstick, especially on his more muscular body. "I got it. I wish ..."
