“You can have it back”, Jon says simply, watching his borrowed body in the mirror. Jon wanted to see exactly what it looked like when the wish executed a swap, but unfortunately it was a literally as fast as the blink of an eye. One moment he’s wearing a crop top that perfectly fit his strange body, the next he was back wearing a t-shirt.
Jon looked down and patted his chest, everything seemed back to normal, not that it should have been any other way. But thankfully, it proved that he wouldn’t have to go make any hasty alterations to his swapping power with the wishing rock, or that his wishing power was broken in some irreparable way that would forever curse him to be careful with the activation and reverse phrases. No, it simply worked perfectly, Jon now standing there again with just his sister’s skirt and the flat boots he’d put on for her earlier after staggering up the stairs.
Jon had to admit, he was curious if undoing the swap now would swap over hte clothes he changed since the exact terms of the wish said, “everything below the waist”, or if Zoe would end up barefoot. Unfortunately it shows that despite his best planning, Jon was clearly not able to account for every circumstance with his wishes, another reminder that Jon needs to be very careful when making them, not that Karyn’s accident wasn’t reminder enough.
Jon stood in front of the mirror upstairs and repeated himself, “You can have it back”, in another blink of the eye, he was back to his old male self, clothes and all, just as he was when he woke up this morning and embarked on this crazy experiment. Jon looked at himself in the mirror just to be safe, because it never hurts to do so.
So let’s see, I guess stacking wishes works. So that’s good. Also it looks like I can undo changes without being close to someone, which makes sense since I didn’t create any specific distance limitation on that undo wish. Jon mused, as he looked in the mirror, wondering what to do next, Hang on he thought.
Jon looked at the photo of him and the girls again; the same one he thought seemed off. He picked it up and looked at it closely again. He was right, the pose definitely had changed. Now the photo in its original form, or real reality or whatever term would be best to describe how the universe was prior to Jon making wishes for his new powers, Jon could see exactly how the photo looked before the swap, and yes, there were changes.
In the true reality photo, without any changes, the photo was a simple one. Jon flanked by Karyn and Emily on each side, he was wearing board shorts and no shirt, the girls in their own swimwear, with one of Jon’s arms draped across each of the girls shoulders. Jon remembered that in the altered photo affected by the swap wish, Emily was definitely in a different pose.
Jon distinctly remembered seeing Emily leaning into his side, as if rubbing up against him, not overtly sexually, but definitely not friendly. Here it just looked like a group of friends hanging out, but in the altered reality, it looked more, like a group of friends and two happened to be closer than friends.
I wonder what this means? Jon asked himself, Emily and I would be a couple if I had a girl’s body? Or did she want to be with Zoe? Hell, does she WANT to be with Zoe now? Is Emily into girls? Would I still be into girls like that?
His head spun thinking about it. Jon and Emily had always been close, best buddies even. He used to hang out with her when Karyn wasn’t around, just like Jon spent his spare time with Karyn while Emily was gone. There was never really anything there, she was definitely cute with her green eyes, fire red hair and Irish temperament, but Jon hadn’t really thought of Emily as anything other than a friend. He’d never sensed anything from her either suggesting she liked him in that way, he always assumed it’s because they were almost like family, not because she may have been into the fairer sex.
Would have made hanging out more fun, Jon shrugged internally, we could have been checking out chicks together and making notes.
While Jon was pondering exactly the nature of reality and how fickle friendships can be, he heard a banging from downstairs. Zoe was obviously finished in the kitchen and lazily shoving her chair back against table. That must mean she’s getting ready to leave for wherever she was planning to go. Jon headed down the hall to the top of the stair’ banister and could see Zoe making her way to the front door. She was fumbling in her pockets, putting her phone and keys away as she did so. Jon could see that Zoe was definitely wearing the shoes he’d swapped out for her during his experiments, so at the very least it confirmed that the undo element was literal, it’ll swap back exactly word for word what was swapped initially.
Jon had only a few moments to figure out what to do, he was wondering if he should reswap with Zoe before she leaves, or not.
