The first thing Jon noticed after he made his wish was that he didn't seem able to move. Then he found his body moving on its own, setting down a phone and then looking around the room, which, Jon realized was a bathroom. He noticed he was naked, but his body was moving on its own, so he wasn't able to look down at himself. Jon had no idea what was going on. Then he remembered his wish. He had barely had time to see the picture into which he had been transformed, but he seemed to recall there being a mirror and an attractive naked girl.
Then he heard a voice, a muffled girl's voice, call out, "Jon! Jon, I know you did this. What are you up to?" He realized that his lips were moving, but no sound was coming out. He tried to reply, but he couldn't make a sound.
Jon found his body approaching the mirror, and he recognized the person he saw there as the woman he had briefly seen in the picture. Again, he tried to say something, to do something, but to no avail.
He felt his face moving on its own, making strange faces in the mirror. Oh, my God! Jon thought. I'm in the mirror. I'm a reflection being controlled by the person on the other side of the mirror. But if I'm in here, then that must mean Karyn is out there.
Jon exerted all of his will and managed not to follow every movement the girl in the mirror made. While Karyn was making faces in the mirror, Jon tried as hard as he could not to follow her. And, he discovered, he could do it. He could move on his own if he concentrated really hard.
The longer this went on, the easier it became for Jon to move of his own accord as long as he concentrated. If he relaxed, his body would mimic Karyn's ... or whoever this girl was.
Karyn seemed to realize what was going on too. She raised her hand, and once Jon realized what was going on, he concentrated on not raising his hand. It worked! He tried to say something, but he still couldn't manage to make a sound.
"Jon, is that you in the mirror?" Karyn asked.
Jon nodded even though Karyn had not.
"What did you do?" Jon tried to think of some way of responding, but without being able to talk, he didn't know what to do.
Then Karyn walked away from the mirror. When she was out of sight of the mirror, Jon started to feel really strange. He "looked" around as best he could, and he realized that he had no body. He was just an empty presence in the mirror. He could "move" rather freely within the confines of what the mirror could reflect, but he was more like a spirit than a body.
When Karyn returned, Jon became corporeal again. Karyn set a tube of lipstick down on the counter. "Jon, see if you can interact with that tube of lipstick," Karyn said. Jon picked up the lipstick and uncapped it, but he thought, Ok, so what? I have a tube of lipstick. What am I supposed to do with it? Wear it? But, being unable to speak to convey these thoughts, Jon simply shrugged his shoulders and looked at Karyn.
"Now, try to write on the mirror with the lipstick," Karyn said. "If you can do it, tell me what you wished for."
Jon did as he was told and wrote out the wish. He didn't explain about the uncontrollable wish that led to the wish about living the life of someone in a photo because it would have taken too much space, but he did tell Karyn the gist of the wish.
"Jon, you are such an idiot sometimes," Karyn said. "So, now I have to live this slut's life for a day?" Jon just shrugged and nodded. "I don't even know what this girl does, so how am I ..." Before Karyn could finish her sentence, she walked out of the bathroom, casting one glance back at Jon over her shoulder, her face seeming to say, I don't know what's happening. But Jon had some idea what was happening: she was being forced to live this girl's life, to behave as she would. Presumably, this girls doesn't spend much of her day talking to her reflection.
Jon, now bodyless, began to try to figure out what he was capable of. He discovered that he could move to a certain extent, though it wasn't any kind of movement he was familiar with. He assumed it was how ghosts or spirits moved about, if there were such things as ghosts and spirits. He had most of his senses: he could see, feel, and hear. He didn't seem able to smell or taste anything though.
