CS Jon pulled out his phone. "Sorry Karyn, just wait till I get this call, then we can talk." Karyn stopped near the door. Jon looked at the screen 'Prime DTH Jon' it displayed. "How's that possible?" he asked.
"What?" Karyn asked
"Sorry I was talking to myself." He pressed the answer button, uncertain of what would come through the speaker. "Hello?" he asked. This was followed by silence for a few seconds before he heard his own voice from the phone.
"Hi. I know this is probably a bit weird but I'm another Jon with a DTH."
"Yeah?" Jon answered cautiously.
"Actually before we continue. Is Karyn there?" the other Jon asked.
"Yeah."
"Cool, you better put me on speaker, so you don't have to repeat all this."
CS Jon turned to Karyn. "He wants to speak to both of us."
"Who?"
"Me." Jon pressed the speaker button.
The voice came from the speaker. "Don't be alarmed Karyn, I'm another Jon with a DTH."
"Oh," she still looked a little confused, "okay."
"Prime Jon according to my phone." CS Jon told her.
The other Jon sounded surprised. "Really? It doesn't give me a name at my end."
CS Jon was a little upset by this. "Who made you the king of the DTH?"
"Hey man, don't get angry with me. I just wished up a phone to talk to you guys. I didn't pick the names. Maybe we've done the highest number of hops or something."
CS Jon thought about this for a moment. "So what does the phone directory call me?"
"Clean Shirt Jon." CS Jon looked down at the clean shirt he was wearing.
"Fair enough. So what is this about?"
"A couple of things really..." Jon could hear Karyn's voice in the background but couldn't make out the words, "...yeah I'll ask him. Ok first off, did you steal money from ARD Jon?"
Jon was momentarily stunned. How had they found out about that? He turned to Karyn who smiled in a smug kind of way.
"Well I borrowed it." Jon lied.
"I'm disappointed in you. I didn't think you were capable of that kind of behaviour."
CS Jon went on the defensive. "Don't you judge me, lord of the DTH, you don't even know me."
"Calm down. Actually we have met, remember in the garden, " phone Jon clarified, "Zoe's garden, where we all got together. I was the guy organising the group hop."
"Well that makes sense. Bossing us all around then too..." He was interrupted by Karyn who pushed him away from the phone and shushed him. CS Jon moved to the other side of the room sulking.
CS Karyn took over speaking to phone Jon. "Sorry about that. I'm sure he wants to pay for his mistakes."
"Well I sorted out everything with ARD Jon so you don't have anything to be concerned about but if you guys want to help, there is something you can do. In fact it was the main reason I called."
"Sure what is it?"
"Jon should have got a notification on the DTH about a weird timeline." Karyn turned to Jon who was already looking at the DTH. He nodded to Karyn.
"Yeah." She said.
"We were wondering if you guys could investigate that and find out what's going on. We've figured it's some sort of device, a very powerful one probably."
"I'm sure we can manage that. Just one question though."
"What?"
"If it's important, why are you asking us? It's quite clear my Jon is untrustworthy, entitled and quick to anger."
CS Jon was about to speak when Karyn without looking at him silenced him by raising her hand.
"Oh we'd do it but we're kind of busy with a government conspiracy and some other stuff." Phone Jon paused. "Karyn wants to talk."
"Okay"
"Hi," phone Karyn said, "Look I don't know if you've got to that point yet but my Jon and I came to blows over his new attitude since the DTH wish made him smarter."
"I know how you feel. I was ready for walking out on him before you called."
"Well we resolved it by having Jon put me in charge of the team. Maybe you should try that and he'd be a better person for it." CS Karyn looked at Jon. She noticed she'd managed to silence him with a single hand movement. A new level of confidence flowed through her.
"Oh, honey I'm already in charge and I decided, not Jon." She could almost hear Karyn smiling on the other end of the phone. "Speak to you guys later. Bye." Karyn ended the call.
"What do you mean?" Jon asked.
"Well someone has to keep you on the straight and narrow. That someone is me." Jon wasn't sure if he liked this now more dominant Karyn and he was determined to say something about it. Before he could, Karyn spoke again. "Set the destination."
"Yes Karyn." He programmed the controls of the DTH. Karyn held out her hand and he took it. Activating the DTH both of them vanished.
