It was still strange for Jon to see his own father dressed as a woman, as he was now wearing a silky robe that would have looked perfectly normal on Susan McMillan, but really weird on Jon's father. But he had to shelve his feelings about that and stay in character. His father (Richard) was supposed to be his mother for another six or so days. He had to act like it.
Jon sat down, reminding himself to cross his legs. "What is it, Mom?" he asked Richard.
Richard and Charles looked at each other uneasily, then Charles broke the bad news. "I've been laid off, pumpkin."
