Then, suddenly, Mikey jumped up, slammed his hand into the bag and pulled out a name. He looked excitedly at his choice, shouting it out when he read it. It said Jack Withers.
"I get to drive the school bus!" he shouted excitedly, waving his paper over his head.
Jack Withers, indeed, was Mikey's school bus driver. He'd been driving the same route for twenty years, and probably would drive for twenty more. In his mid-forties, Jack was divorced, lived alone, and wasn't very happy. He visited his kids (all grown up now) every once and a while, but for the most part spent his evenings at the local pub.
All this didn't matter to Mikey, though, as all he could imagine was how cool it would be to be behind the wheel of the bus he rode to school every day.
