Karyn lay down on her bed, staring up at the ceiling fan and throwing a rubber ball up, seeing how close she could get it to the whirling fan blades. Bored, she thought, miserable. Jon had gotten them both to do something incredibly moronic, and got reported to the Punishment Bureau for it. Her punishment was still up in the air since she'd just been an accomplice, but Jon's was in progress now; another week and she'd be able to go and see him, assuming her own punishment didn't get her taken away or memory-wiped.
"Karyn?" her father's voice called through the door. "Your punishment's been decided, we have to go."
She sighed and got up, putting her sock-clad feet back into her sneakers and trudging out the door. "Let's get it over with."
"You look like you're on death row, kiddo," her father said, concerned. She shrugged and he just sighed. "I know, bad joke. But it's not going to be as terrible as you think it is."
They got in the car and drove the short distance to the hospital, stepping in and through the doors to the Transformation Wing. "Karyn Black," she said in a dead, heavy voice. The cheerful receptionist looked up at her and smiled brightly.
"You're the new evildoer, eh? Let's see what the Justice League has in store for you," the receptionist quipped, looking intently at the computer and smiling wider. "Oh, this is twisted. You're that Jon kid's partner?" she whistled. "Go on back, a nurse will help you."
Karyn nodded, walking through the double doors behind the receptionist, not noticing her father's goodbyes. She was asked her name, then led into a room and given a shot in her arm, making her pass out in under a minute.
