After dinner, I headed back up to my room and took the stone out to examine it and maybe see if I could come up with a way to reverse Nathen’s careless wish. Making sure that my door was closed, I sprawled out on my bed and began tossing it back and forth between my hands, thinking.
An hour passed, and I was unable to come up with any good ideas on how to reverse the wish. The ideas that I did come up with all seemed to have some flaw in some way, and I could only see them making the wish worse, so I didn’t want to try them. After a while, I began to grow bored and eventually stopped tossing the stone, mostly because my hands were getting tired.
Woman, I’m bored. I thought to myself. Out loud, however, I said, “I wish that something interesting would happen. It took about a minute for me to realise that I had actually said that out loud whilst holding the stone, at which point it was too late as the stone began to work its magic and I felt compelled to look away.
“Uh-oh.”
